Bisnow visits the UK’s largest BTR scheme

Greystar’s development at Greenford Quay was toured by Bisnow, who labelled it as ‘the ultimate blank canvas when it comes to building large-scale rented residential schemes from scratch in the UK’

The company’s Managing Director of Customer Strategy and Brand Neil Burton explained how Greenford Quay is central to Greystar’s strategy for changing the way London lives and works.

Greenford Quay is the largest purpose-built built-to-rent development in the UK. It will deliver 2,000 homes across seven buildings, with Greystar looking to attract residents from across the capital by creating a domain that incorporates amenities such as workspaces, gyms, restaurants and cafes. These will be accessible to the local community as well as residents.

Construction began in June 2018, using modular and off-site methods.  This will roughly halve the potential construction time, with the first building scheduled to be completed at the end of 2019.

The final sentence illustrates how Greenford Quay is a gamechanger:

Greystar has an entirely clean slate with Greenford Quay. It emphasized that its inception could shape the way the BTR sector evolves in the UK, and in turn, London’s functioning as a city.
